shadow play ... [the performance]

'The present moment is filled with joy and happiness,
if you are attentive you will see it...'

[Thich Nhat Hanh]

Today I made time to delight in the play of light and shadow on a solitary, dying leaf of a cassia.  This leaf, having now surrendered its luscious green to golden brown, had caught a  beam of sunlight that fell brilliantly upon it - and decorated its form with a myriad of patterns, silently spinning as a delicate breeze blew... a death dance perhaps. One last chance to shine before accepting one's fate to lie with the earth.  Shadows overlaid the surface patterning of the leaf, like a raak.  The leaf spinning like a dervish...

I quietly looked on, a grateful witness to this tiny glowing form and its unexpectedly beautiful performance...
